Artistic manifesto - Postmodernity
Longing as a language Sound — sorrow with elegance
Feeling: Saudade—nostalgia without an address, sorrow with elegance
Mood: melancholic, nocturnal, intimate, timeless
Here, music ceases to be an object and becomes a space: a territory where the past still lives, pain is accepted as aesthetic material, and meaning emerges from emptiness — a state of suspension between presence and absence, memory and silence.
Postmodernity is an artistic project that explores music as an emotional, sensory, and conceptual space. Situated between ambient, experimental, electronic, cinematic, classical, and drone music, the project develops its own sound language, which can be understood as “Ambient Saudade” — a conceptual genre. The work approaches emotion in a contemplative way, crossing music and audiovisual art with a strong influence from cinematic ambience, in which the narrative is the emotion itself. This genre does not seek answers, but rather evokes what no longer exists, transforming each piece into an open space for contemplation rather than a closed object.
Ambient Saudade, which in English can be described as melancholic soundscapes, is not intended to be a stylistic genre, but rather a space of expression for music that escapes traditional industry classifications. It is an experience of listening and suspension, closer to contemplation than consumption. The project rejects the urgency of categorization, privileging emotional depth over formal structures or defined musical genres. Ambient Saudade thus asserts itself as an aesthetic and conceptual identity aimed at an audience interested in experimental music, sound art, cinema, audiovisual installations, and transdisciplinary artistic practices.
"Alma Negra" establishes a deep connection with this genre style of fado and the soul and legacy of Amália Rodrigues. Portuguese ancestry carries a “Dark Soul”, often associated with saudade, an emotional depth that resonates strongly in Portuguese culture.
